What Vital Conditions Made Possible — Reflections from the IE

Published on January 29, 2026

Across the country, communities are looking for better ways to work together across complex and connected challenges. A new national video What Vital Conditions Made Possible, from the Rippel Foundation, shares reflections from stewards who are using the Vital Conditions for Health & Well-Being framework as a shared foundation for this work.

One theme comes through clearly: having a common framework matters. Stewards describe the value—and relief—of moving away from fragmented approaches toward shared language, shared goals, and a clearer understanding of how different efforts fit together. Rather than replacing what already works, Vital Conditions helps align existing strategies and show how individual and organizational contributions connect to broader community outcomes.

The framework is also helping people see how their local work fits into a larger picture—linking organizations, regions, and national partners who are learning from one another. This alignment is opening the door to new energy and momentum, including opportunities to explore cross-cutting solutions (i.e., multisolve).

We’re excited to see Inland Empire voices shaping this national conversation. Thank you to Dr. Paulette Hinds-Brown (Black Voices News) and Susan Gomez (Inland Empire Community Collaborative), who shared their experience from the IE Vital Conditions Network. They speak to how the Vital Conditions Framework clarified conversations already underway locally, provided a common language for setting goals, and is helping organizations move in the same direction. Their reflections highlight how the framework complements and strengthens ongoing work while making new possibilities visible.

The Inland Empire Vital Conditions Network (IEVCN) is part of a growing ecosystem of regional and national partners using this framework in ways that reflect their own context. We invite network members to explore who else is growing their stewardship practices and animating the Vital Conditions to expand thriving for all.

We encourage you to watch and share the video and invite others into our regional work. Together, we continue building clarity, alignment, and connection—so all who call the Inland Empire home can thrive.
