Mapping Black California

Mapping Black California leverages comprehensive data on economic and public health outcomes, housing equality, workforce dynamics, and mass incarceration to identify and address systemic racism and inequities, providing a holistic view of overlooked populations and their social determinants of health across all regions and socioeconomic communities.

Healthy Places Index

The Healthy Places Index® (HPI) is a project of the Public Health Alliance of Southern California. It is a powerful, easy-to-use data and policy platform designed to advance health equity through open and accessible data. Evidence-based and peer-reviewed, the HPI supports efforts to prioritize equitable community investments, develop critical programs and policies across the state, and more.

The HPI explores local factors that predict life expectancy and compares community conditions across California. It provides overall scores and detailed data on specific policy action areas that shape health, such as housing, transportation, education, and more. In the Inland Empire, the County of Riverside has set a goal to improve its HPI score by 30 points over the next 30 years.
